Dear people who write J2,

I love your stories, I really do. I love when you use the entire roster of CW stars, past and present. (yes, some of those folks no longer work for the CW). But let us get some things straight. Mr. Tom Welling has green eyes. Not blue. Superman has blue eyes. Thomas has green eyes, and they are as pretty, if not more, than Jensen's. G-R-E-E-N. Stop making them blue!!

He's almost as tall as Jared; he is taller than Jensen, so much taller that it makes me think they're fudging when they give JA's height as 6'1". He's built more along the line of JP, but with real muscles, less gay porn and more just naturally hot as the sun. *koff*

I understand the need for a villain in most of your stories, but I think that it's becoming fanon in J2 that Thomas is a dick. Sorry, that's not true. Nearly every interview with his co-stars, or article about Thomas, mentions what a nice guy he is, genuinely a nice guy. There's a shit-ton of pics on line with Thomas and kids, and he always looks happy to be in the shot with them--you know, nice to his fans. He's the real deal. The very very *very* few stories I've read in which Thomas is not an abusive asshole bastard pick up on that and more importantly, give him credit for being smart as well as sweet.

I don't know, just feeling oddly protective about my Thomas and Clark lately. I just needed to get that out. I hate what folks do with Thomas, and hate how they waste him in fics. I'd like to read *something* where he figures as large as Christian Kane and gets decent treatment. (by the way, where's the Chris/David fic, fer cryin' out loud?
*deep breath*

Next time, I'm going to talk about what they do to Michael in these stories. You might want to step back from the screen when I do.

pssst: was that story a spy AU? Yep - 'Someone You Could Have Been' or something along those lines. It was really good, and I didn't really mind the boy's being used badly in this one, because it really made sense in the story. It just bothered me on principal because I know how badly used they are in general.

I was trying to think of baddies in the earlier seasons, but it's been almost a year since I've seen them the once, so no one was coming to mind. It's good to know it's because there weren't...oh wait - there was a Vampire hunter and an FBI agent...right? They weren't regulars, but they each had a few eps, I think?

However, all the guys I mentioned before, and the two above, aren't nearly as hot (or young) as our boys, so I guess I can get why they don't use their own show's actors. Still don't like what they do to them, though.

I actually don't like Clark at all. Smallville has turned Superman upside down for me. I don't like Clark, and LOVE Lex and Lois.

It's a shame that people apparently bash TW so much in rps, because I like the actor, just not the character he plays. Although I think a lot of that had to do with Lana, and how epically lame she was. She totally dragged him down, and I was over that relationship even faster than I was over Buffy/Angel. Which was pretty damn fast.

I have a hard time slashing smallville, but I suppose I could see some Clark/Lex in an extremely wrong way. Heh, I actually had moments where I saw some Oli/Jimmy, where Oli was an ass, and just let Jimmy please him sexually because Jimmy fanboy'd him.

I'm really sad that you don't like Clark! Though I understand when you say that Lana dragged him down. The Show sacrificed a lot of Clark's character to make that relationship seem workable. It was a shame, because it did neither actor any favors--they shared no chemistry whatsoever. I think the Clark/Lex relationship seemed more than possible, and for me it went through so many changes--it could be written any way, from sweet and shmoopy into the most non-con of non-con. In the very beginning, Lex was so taken with Clark, and eps like Asylum made that so obvious--to a Clexer like me, anyway! :)

Yeah...Ollie. The only fic I ever wrote with Oliver Queen, Lex kidnapped him, tortured him, brainwashed him and then killed him. *GGG* Good times....

I read some J2 recently with a nice/smart Tom, but now I can't remember the name. It does seem rare though.

I've been wondering lately why there is so little Chris/David when their friendship is such a matter of record. Or why David is almost always missing from J2 fics even if they feature Chris? I've been watching Bones on Netflix and I'm about ready for some action...

Right? They constantly refer to each other as best friend. The few times David's in the picture, he's almost always attached to one of the Js.

Also, David makes more sense in terms of RL relationships than Michael. I don't think he's very much involved with any of them besides Tom.

Christian/David is hot of the epic variety.

here from the sv_ledger. AND THANK YOU FOR SAYING THIS! You know, I used not read J2 fic so I didn't even realize this was a problem (because the one I did read had Tom only there briefly and he was quite funny). But then someone self-recc'd their fic in a comment to one of mine, luring me in with the promise of Justin (Hartley). What they failed to mention was that Tom was also there as an abusive boyfriend and Justin was actually his victim.

I know, WTF, right? I was SO angry and I couldn't even make it through the first chapter. I've read other J2 fics, where it's like, they just made up a nasty villain and stuck Tom's name in there.

So thank you again for standing up for our guy. Seriously, just make an OC or something, instead of massacring the character of a genuinely wonderful person. :\

Though the one person I do highly recommend is anyothergirl415 (you might've read her fics already). She's nice to both Tom & Mike! :D

I'll check out anyothergirl415--I've probably read something by her, I read so much of the darn stuff!

I find that the less skillfully written a fic is, the creepier Tom tends to be--I didn't really want to say that outside of a cut, but oh my lord. There's some really bad stuff out there, oy. I have read a few fics where Tom has been presented in a pretty good light, or at least a halfway decent one, but still. I think if a writer is interested in RPS, they should at least do a little bit of research into whoever they're writing into a fic. There's a way of presenting Thomas as a bad guy and still making him a three dimensional character, right?

Personally, I like my Thomas good. I did read a story that I was linked to here that featured a real asshole of a Tom, but it was written so well that I ended up liking him anyway...*g*

Have you read the j2 big bang fic "Ours is a Reciprocal Gravitation Orbit"? Small roles for Tom and Michael towards the end-small, but choice. And a really good read all around!
