I'll totally buy that. Lex's motivation has been saving humanity for some time... individuals don't really matter in the long term. Except him of course, because he's the only one who can be arsed to take them on, so if he gets eaten, who's gonna run the anti-invasion efforts??? WHO TELL ME??
